Trump Takes Credit For Discovering Gaga

First Published: December 22, 2011 3:49 PM EST Credit: Getty Images Caption Lady Gaga / Donald TrumpLOS ANGELES, Calif. -- Should the Little Monsters be thanking Donald Trump for discovering Mother Monster? The reality TV star/real estate mogul says the Miss Universe pageant helped launch Lady Gaga to stardom. I own the Miss Universe pageant, he writes in his new book, Time to Get Tough: Making America #1 Again. About four years ago, during what you call half-time, we always have an entertainer. Weve had a lot of great people, and you dont pay them anything because its one of the biggest audiences and my people told me, Nobody knows who she is, but theres this woman with good talent named Lady Gaga. I said, I dont care if you like her, put her on. So we put her on it was live all over the United States and all over the world and the next day, nobody was talking about Miss Universe, everybody was talking, Who was the woman, who was the entertainer? She was unbelievable, Trump continued in his book. The singer performed what would become her first hit, Just Dance, during the ceremony in Vietnam, where Miss Venezuela Dayana Mendoza took home the crown. Shes been very gracious about it, he added. I dont want to say we made Lady Gaga, but she was incredible and that was her break. Copyright 2011 by NBC Universal, Inc. All rights reserved. Netflix dwarfs digital movie rentals

The proliferation of devices for streaming video hasn't driven much uptake of movies for so-called "iVOD" rentals, according to a new study. NPD Group found that digital storefronts providing a la carte pickings including Apple's iTunes, Amazon Instant Video and Walmart's Vudu prompted only 5% of streaming-device owners to rent movies. Connected TVs, game consoles, tablets, smartphones and other streaming gadgets are likely doing the majority of long-form viewing via Netflix and other subscription VOD options. They also may be bypassing over-the-top TV options entirely, renting titles on cable VOD. To wit, 56% of iVOD movie renters are also Netflix subs and 43% use their pay-TV provider's movie VOD offering. "The industry is teeing up excellent services for Internet movie rental, but they simply aren't getting noticed by many consumers," said Russ Crupnick, senior VP, industry analysis for NPD. The data may also give an indication of where the growth of video streaming on gaming consoles is coming from, as Nielsen reported year-over-year increases Wednesday across XBox 360, Sony Playstation 3 and Wii. Microsoft Zune and Sony PlayStation Network are two virtual stores that offer iVOD options among other content offerings within their respective console's content ecosystems. Top Moments: Virgins' Horrifying First Hug and Mother's Large Twist

Virgin Journals Our top moments each week: 15. Worst Christmas Surprise: Andy is just requesting trouble around the Office when he invites his new girlfriend towards the Holiday party at Dunder Mifflin where, just in case you didn't remember, his ex-girlfriend still works. And guess what happens he will get in the stocking? Trouble. Around the advice of the equally damaged-hearted Robert California, Erin will get wasted in the party and ends up inside a close hug (and perhaps more?) with Robert, much to Andy's chagrin. Just what had you been expecting, Nard Dog? 14. Worst Break-Taking Moment: After not sleeping with anybody apart from her boyfriend Spencer in additional than six years, Jess is naturally worried that they will not be adventurous enough between the sheets on her new guy, Paul (the equally adorkable Justin Lengthy), on New Girl. Regrettably, Jess ranges from adventurous (see: bondage-like lingerie) to disturbing in five seconds flat when she gently chokes Paul as they are making out. Remember, Jess, you cannot have sexual intercourse with him if he's dead. This is not Clerks. 13. Saddest Blindsiding: Annie finally decides to check the romantic waters with Auggie on Covert Matters, taking his hands and telling him that he's the only person she would like to speak to after returning from Stockholm. The usually intuitive Auggie, however, totally misreads her and, after giving her his Corvettes, drops a bombshell: He will Eritrea to pursue rapport with Parker. Annie's heartbreak is compounded because Auggie, being blind, can't see her teary, crumpleface reaction. "I'm able to literally hear you smiling," he informs her. 12. Best Gift: Exactly what does Leslie Knope love most? The Parks Department, Pawnee and sweets. (Perhaps you have seen just how much whipped cream she puts on her behalf waffles?) So her Parks and Entertainment team pulls together to obtain her two perfect gifts: a re-development of the Parks Department made entirely of chocolate as well as an offer to operate her campaign for City Council. Performs this mean Leslie Knope 2012 lollipops have been in our future? 11. Sealed having a Crash Award: Chuck and Blair fans, rejoice! Blair - finally - helps make the decision we understood she'd and selects to get along with Chuck on Gossip Girl. Bad the paparazzi get wind that Blair is departing her prince within the dust and chase her limo right into a road block just like Blair and Chuck share an intimate hug. The end result? A fiery crash as well as an unknown fate for Chuck. It may be worse - Blair might have selected Serta. 10. Worst Temper Outburst: Don't awake the animal! Sleeping beauty Kim Kardashian flicks on sister Khloe when she wakes her as much as say goodbye on Kourtney and Kim Take NY. "[You are a] dumb, little, evil f---ing troll. You've no clue just how much I personally don't like you. You are disgusting," Kim texts Khloe. "[Kim thinks that] I am spiteful, I am jealous of her existence," Khloe states. "It's crazy that they thinks this way, but additionally sad." Inform us about this - particularly when Kim discloses the main of her frustration: Khloe is not encouraging of her relationship with and marriage to Kris Humphries. Uh, well, she wasn't wrong. Team Khloe! 9. Oh, Mother Award: After Sophistication briefly gets lost (also known as "that point Sophistication got baptized without telling anybody and butt-called her mother 12 occasions") around the Good Wife, Alicia involves hard realization that they can no more juggle as being a good lawyer, a great single mom along with a good girlfriend. Regrettably, there's only title she will manage to shed, so Alicia breaks track of Will, telling him "I can not,Inch as tears stream lower her face. Will anxiously waited fifteen years to obtain left like this? 8. Best New Mystery: On Homeland, everything appears to visit based on Barbara and Saul's intend to take lower Master when Al Zahrani helps orchestrate a conference inside a public square. A guy fitting Walker's description arrives, but Carrie's instincts immediately let her know something's wrong. It works out that Master has really employed a destitute lookalike to transmit in the place and before Barbara can perform anything about this, Master remotely detonates a explosive device within the man's brief-case. Barbara is hurt, but she's bigger seafood to fry: There is a mole within the CIA. Who's it? 7. Greatest Disappointment: After enhancing its 4th season to some breaking point, Sons of Anarchy is out with a little of the whimper. Like Hamlet, which Sons creator Kurt Sutter has reported being an inspiration, the show forces prince Jax to request: "To kill or otherwise to kill Clay?," the guy who killed Jax's father and purchased popular on Jax's fiancée. Ultimately, the mixture of the deus ex machina - Romeo is dealing with the CIA! - and also the Irish Kings' disinclination to cope with SAMCRO without Clay forces Jax to help keep that old guy around some time longer. Or as Hamlet might say, "To become... ongoing?" 6. Worst Drunken Hookup: Remember that certain time attending college whenever your mother found visit and she or he embarrassed you before your buddies? That's nothing in comparison as to the Boardwalk Empire's Jimmy Darmody experienced. Grieving following the murder of his wife Angela, Jimmy flashes-to the origins of the relationship at Princeton. But even throughout individuals fledgling times of puppy love, Jimmy's mother literally came between your couple. While going to Jimmy, Gillian will get so drunk she will barely stand. When Jimmy helps her undress, Gillian kisses her boy and, because of their own intoxication, it does not hold on there. No surprise poor people boy went off to fight within the war! 5. Dying Becomes Her Award: Poor Purple! First, Tate attempts to pressure a suicide pact on her behalf on American Horror Story. Then, when she would like no a part of that, he decides this is an optimal time for you to show her (and also to us) that Purple is really dead. Yup, she OD'd on individuals pills she required two days ago, and Tate has squirreled away her rotting corpse - that is disgustingly teeming with flies - within the basement. Between this and Tate impregnating her mother, maybe Violet's best dead? 4. Most Chilling Follow up: When Bree discovers from Chuck the analysis into Alejandro's disappearance has become formally arrived on Desperate Average women, she gets she's nobody to show to, so she rents a dull motel room where she contemplates suicide. She sits alone in a table having a bottle of alcohol along with a gun, and all of a sudden includes a vision of Mary Alice sitting across from her. She informs Mary Alice that they is really unhappy and asks if she's happy after carrying out suicide. "I am not unhappy," Mary Alice states cryptically before vaporizing, departing Bree to create her choice. Do not do it, Bree! There's still over fifty percent the ultimate season left to visit. 3. Large Women, Do Not Cry Award: The X Factor has had several dramatic eliminations (see: Astro's face-served by Simon Cowell), however it was way worse when 13-year-old Rachel Crow will get the boot. She falls towards the floor sobbing and screams "Mother," for cripe's A minimum of Rachel's reaction is much more age-appropriate compared to judge Nicole Scherzinger, who takes happens also sobbing, but will be so troubled that they states nothing when Steve Johnson shoves the microphone in her own face. Is the fact that a cry for Rachel or perhaps a cry for attention, Nicole? We actually can't differentiate any longer. 2. Best Bait and Switch: So Robin wasn't pregnant in the end how I Met Your Mother. (Why did not she simply take getting pregnant test again?) Actually, she discovers that they can't ever conceive, she informs her supposed future children, Ted-style. Wait, what? Though Robin hasn't wanted children, she becomes overcome with sadness in the option being removed, that leads you to definitely think that she must've adopted individuals kids, right? Not a chance! The children are only a figment of her imagination, and she or he never grew to become a parent. Could it be an inexpensive stunt? Possibly. But it is also a precise portrayal of her infertility: She's not losing children she manages to lose the concept, the idea - the vision - of these. 1. Most Terrifying Hug: We have all seen the infamous and unbearably awkward first hug from Virgin Journals right now, but what none people were ready for may be the continual lip-lock/jaw workout between Ryan and Shanna at their wedding. "The hug was, um, tough to explain," Ryan's mother offers charitably. Other have referred to it variously as "just like a mama bird feeding her chick," "nursing-like," and "chew-y." Let us just hope that practicing to achieve perfection with this charming youthful couple. What were your top moments?

Why ESPN Sat on Explosive Syracuse Molestation Tape for Nearly 10 Years

ESPN sat on a 2002 taped conversation between Laurie Fine, the wife of recently fired Syracuse University assistant basketball coach Bernie Fine, and Bobby Davis, the man accusing Fine of molesting him, for nearly a decade. The sports network says it did not broadcast the phone call until this Sunday because it did not have corroboration on the charges.our editor recommendsBob Costas on Jerry Sandusky's Sex Scandal: 'There Will Be More' to Come Out of the Investigation (Video)Howard Stern on Jerry Sandusky: 'They Should Cut His B---- Off' (Video)Penn State Scandal: Bob Costas Lauded for Jerry Sandusky 'Rock Center' Interview Syracuse fired Fine Sunday after ESPN's Outside the Lines played the tape. University Chancellor Nancy Cantor said in a statement addressed to students, faculty and staff on Sunday: "I am writing to let you know that Bernie Fine's employment at the University has been terminated effective immediately. Frankly, the events of the past week have shaken us all. The taped phone call that ESPN revealed today was not provided to the university by Mr. Davis during the 2005 investigation by our legal counsel. PHOTOS: Hollywood's Memorable Mea Culpas Davis is one of three men that has said Fine molested them during his tenure as the Orangemen's coach. Davis was a ball boy for the team for six years and told ESPN that the abuse "occurred at Fine's home, at Syracuse basketball facilities and on team road trips, including the 1987 Final Four." An excerpt of the conversation between Davis and Mrs. Fine indicated that she was aware of her husband's crimes: Davis: "Do you think I'm the only one that he's ever done that to?" Laurie Fine: "No ... I think there might have been others but it was geared to ... there was something about you." As for why ESPN sat on the tape for so long, reporter Mark Schwarz said on air Sunday: "We didn't have a corroborating second alleged victim and so we kept the tape for eight years not really knowing what to do with it until the second alleged victim, Mike Lang, came forward." Many comments on ESPN's website fault the Disney-owned channel for not doing anything about the alleged abuse earlier. Levans4692 wrote, "Where is ESPN's culpability in this? They held onto that tape for more than six years and didn't act. Isn't this what ESPN just lynched Joe Paterno for doing? Why didn't ESPN take it a step further. They possessed an actual tape of admission of abuse and didn't act??? Where is the morality? This sickens me...hypocrites." Pjrcol wrote, "Wait what ESPN knew someone was potentially molesting kids and sat on it!!???!!?? fuc% that espn that is bullcrap especially given the fact that you had pretty much all your analyst air their displeasure on Paterno and Penn St. when it quite clearly looks like you sat on info yourself." Porch 33 stated, "ESPN should be held just as accountable if all this is true. Why didn't they go to the police??" The Fine case is the second major molestation-related scandal for college sports in the past two months, following similar allegations against Penn St. assistant football coach Jerry Sandusky. Skipper promotion expected at ESPN

Disney is handing the reins of ESPN to the veteran programmer who has broadened the cabler's focus into international sports and greatly enhanced its programming across all media platforms. John Skipper, exec veep of content, will succeed George Bodenheimer as prexy of the cable sports behemoth as of Jan. 1. Bodenheimer will become exec chairman and remain on its board of directors but hand day-to-day responsibilities to Skipper, who will also become co-chair of Disney's Media Networks division. Although ESPN has branched out in recent years to numerous ancillary businesses, it remains at its core a content company, which made Skipper the logical candidate to follow Bodenheimer as topper. Bodenheimer has been with ESPN for 31 years, and served as prexy for the past 13. The baton toss from Bodenheimer to Skipper is in keeping with Disney's emphasis on orderly succession planning. The Mouse last month unveiled its long-term plan for Bob Iger's transition out of the CEO slot in 2015. "George has said repeatedly that ESPN's success has been led by its collaborative corporate culture and a deep bench of executive talent," said Iger, who got his start at ABC in the 1970s in its sports wing. "While that remains true, it obviously and intentionally downplays his leadership and many significant contributions." After much discussion with Iger about his future, the 53-year-old Bodenheimer felt the time was right to hand the reins to Skipper, who has spearheaded programming during a time of rapid growth and change at ESPN. The cabler reupped its "Monday Night Football" package through 2021 for $15.2 billion in September. Other deals ESPN has recently closed include an exclusive pact with the Wimbledon tennis tournament, and the Pac-12, contracting with the conference to air its college football and basketball games in a shared deal with Fox Sports. ESPN logged another milestone this year as the first cabler to carry college football's championship game, which brought a record-breaking aud of 27.3 million in January. Skipper joined ESPN in 1997 as senior veep and g.m. of its magazine unit. He was upped to head of programming in 2005. His ascent comes as no surprise to ESPN insiders, according to Mark Shapiro, who preceded Skipper as head of programming and is now a partner and CEO at Dick Clark Prods. "He's extremely popular," said Shapiro. "As a person, in terms of the way he treats people and listens, his curiosity and intellectual capacity, he's very much in line with his predecessor. It's about a seamless transition as you would find." Literally days after Skipper -- a huge proponent of international sports coverage, especially soccer -- took the job as head of content six years ago, he flew to Switzerland where he acquired the rights to the men's and women's World Cup, which has since been a boon for the net, though it lost the 2018 and 2022 men's World Cup rights to Fox. Said Shapiro: "To construct a strategy so highly focused on soccer and then lose the World Cup, that was disappointing. It will serve as a wake-up call to continue spending generously to obtain and keep blue-chip properties." Bodenheimer served 13 years as president of ESPN and, according to insiders, wanted to step away and spend more time with his family as the job was taking a toll. Bodenheimer's history at ESPN was built on the sales and affiliate side of the business before becoming prexy, yet he was always a huge proponent of acquiring content to build the net's portfolio. Under his regime ESPN has grown into a conglom that encompasses eight TV domestic networks, 48 global channels, 18 websites and 7,000 employees, many based at the company's Bristol, Conn., headquarters. "We are in great shape on many fronts," Bodenheimer said. "The people of ESPN have made us the great company we are today. I am very proud of all that we have accomplished together, and excited about our future." ESPN will have to continue to make investments in sports programming to stay ahead of hard-charging competition. Not only has Turner, with its NBA basketball package, and Fox made a major sports push, but with a cash infusion from Comcast, NBCUniversal has vowed to invest megabucks in turning its Versus cabler (soon to be renamed NBC Sports Network) into another formidable rival. "We continue to buy rights, start new businesses and push into new platforms because we believe sports is a driver for all of that," Skipper told Variety in July. "We see our competition in a number of places. I mean there is competition for eyeballs on television, for buying rights, on the Internet from social media companies and on videogames. We still think the way to break through all that competition is to own live rights and then build studio content around those live rights." ESPN also needs to have a plethora of sports programming in order to continue to demand the approximately $4.50 per subscriber fee it currently receives from its affiliates. That's more than any other cable network, and combined with a hefty ad revenue, it makes ESPN a huge profit center for Disney. Contact Stuart Levine at stuart.levine@variety.com

Knowing Kid Star Thomas Horn's Performance in Very Noisy... Based Only on His Risk! Expertise

Thomas Horn, who plays the 9-year-old protagonist within this winter’s Tom Hanks/Sandra Bullock feature Very Noisy and extremely Close (that is attaining Oscar steam), provides a somewhat stilted first impression within the movie’s trailer. He came off much more powerful like a champion on Risk!, where he towered over this past year’s Kids Week having a $31,800 finish. I only say we judge his potential according to his Trebekian abilities, not his trailer prowess. Which groups did he soar in? And therefore are they useful when fixing Tom Hanks’s key riddle? Very Noisy and extremely Close concerns a young child whose father is wiped out in 9/11. The little one continues an outing when he finds out a vase along with a key his father left out, and also the surreal/magical trek brings him even nearer to his mother. So: Just how can Risk! assist in this? Watching the gameboard of Horn’s victory, it seems he’s most experienced in government and world geography. You’ll be disheartened to understand he prevented each of the entertainment groups, but even so, he acquired an issue or two within the “Video Games” and “I Wanna Watch Television!” posts (nice pandering, Risk! — why can’t kids get requested questions regarding 󈧬s Oscar those who win and classical opera like everybody else?). Horn’s character of Oskar Schell will require an intricate knowledge of NY City, a puzzlemaster’s inteligence, along with a general precociousness to become credible. He's the 3rd tenet in spades, and that i’m confident he is able to get NY City’s power grid inside a snap. Regrettably, he only demonstrated trivia prowess within the most cut-and-dry “trivia” groups, those in which you either remember X, Y, and Z, or else you don’t. Within the more puzzle-y “Synonyms” category, he didn’t get a proper response, and that he also went /5 within the cosmopolitan, uber-boulevardier Art category. For the time being, I'll unfairly declare him a great match for that character’s adorable inteligence, however i wonder if he’s suitable for his intuitive savvy. However, I’m phrasing this whole theory as an issue. (Because of the ever-fabulous J-Archive for that gameboard!) J-Archive, This summer 8, 2010 [J-Archive]

OSCAR: Foreign Shockers From Spain, Italy

EXCLUSIVE: I’ve just learned that Oscar’sever-growing Foreign Language filmlineuphas receivedshockers from Spain and Italy. Spaindidn’t select the presumedfavorite, whowas two-time Oscar winner PedroAlmodovarwith his The Skin I Live In starring frequent Almodovar collaborator Antonio Banderas. Instead,Spainchose the more obscure Pa Negre (Black Bread),an eerie mystery set in the years following the Spanish Civil War. It swept the Goyaawards last February, winning 9 out of 14 nominations. (Almodovar’s filmjust opened in Spain earlier this month and won’t be eligible until next year’s Goya contest.) It is truethat Almodovar has been consistently snubbed by the Spanish Film Academy which makes the selections. The renowned director was bypassed forTalk To Her and Broken Embraces after actually winning the Oscar for Spainfor All About My Mother in 1999. The situation got so contentious for a while that Almodovar actually resigned from the Spanish Academy as a protest against what he perceived as unfair voting practices. However, letting bygones be bygones, he did rejoinin April of this year. It was expected that goodwill gesture would be enough to put himback in the driver’s seat when it came time to vote for the Academy submission. But once againSpain’s most famous director has been overlooked in favor ofanother: the talented Agusti Villaronga, who does not nearly enjoy the international reputation of Almodovar.Sony Pictures Classics picked up Almodovar’sThe Skin I Live In and will release stateside on October 21st. Pa Negre has played a few American festivals but does not have any U.S. release as of now. It was thought (by me in mypreview) and others that the Foreign Language film race would fall right in line with the official competition of May’s Cannes Film Festival and contain high-profile films fromwell-known and well-rewarded directors. Instead Spain and Italy both wenta completely different way Wednesday in choosing the films that will represent them. Italyhas turned its nose up at Nanni Moretti’s well-received Cannes entry Habemus Papam, a very entertaining comedy/drama about what happens when the newly elected Pope gets cold feet and goes AWOL in Rome. IFC picked it up forU.S. distribution.Instead, the Italians chose the lesser known Emanuele Crialese film Terraferma about the consequences when a group of North African migrants land on an Italian island. It won some awards at this year’s Venice Film Festival and also played Toronto. It opened in Italy earlier this month but does not have U.S. distribution. Italy caused some waves last year bypassing the international hit I Am Love starring Tilda Swinton in favor of the lesser known The First Beautiful Thing which did not get nominated or even reach the Academy’s short list of 9 finalists). No surprise that Italy has not won the Foreign Language Film Oscar since Roberto Begnini’s memorable triumph for 1998′s Life Is Beautiful. Spain last won in 2004 for The Sea Inside. Several countries are still to be heard from and have until Monday to submit their choice. Last year there were 65 entries.

Thomas Gibson how two and a half Males Attracted Off a Dharma & Greg Reunion

Jenna Elfman and Thomas Gibson The finest surprise of Monday night's large two and a half Males season premiere may have been the unforeseen appearance of Dharma & Greg stars Jenna Elfman and Thomas Gibson. While many of the episode's secrets had already leaked - within the dying of Charlie Harper for the funeral appearance of his old female buddies - the show handled to keep the cameos by Elfman and Gibson a whole secret. Calculates like Elfman and Gibson weren't really within the tape of two and a half Men's season opener. Rather, they shot their cameo days later, and didn't take action before a studio audience. The clip of Elfman and Gibson was later proven to another audience to have the ability to record their reaction and laughter - which crowd, which signed a non-disclosure agreement, handled to keep it quiet. "Nobody made an appearance to put it available, which was kind of nice," Gibson states. two and a half Males executive producer Chuck Lorre appeared to become the creator behind Dharma & Greg, which continued ABC from 1997 to 2002. (Trivia note: It's the first show to feature Lorre's now-famous weekly vanity card messages.) Gibson, who's already a business CBS player (since the star in the network's extended-running drama Criminal Minds), was immediately game for the idea. "I obtained a telephone call and Chuck preferred to own some surprises creating a really large splash for your first episode," Gibson states. "I thought it had been an extremely funny idea." This is why, nine years after Dharma & Greg stopped the atmosphere, Elfman and Gibson - bickering as being a couple that has now been married 15 years - were among the guest stars arriving to take a look within the Malibu beach house formerly occupied by Charlie, now in the marketplace. John Stamos was another cameo. One hiccup: Dharma & Greg was produced by last century Fox TV, while two and a half Males can be a Warner Bros. Tv program. Lorre didn't secure permission to take advantage from the figures, but technically he was without to: Elfman and Gibson never recognized to each other as "Dharma" or "Greg", and so they were simply billed as special guest looks, without actual character names. "I am unsure whether or not this was Dharma and Greg," Gibson states getting a wink. "It may have been another couple." But even casual Dharma & Greg audiences probably acquired round the similar character types. Elfman, for example, walked lower the steps marveling in regards to the home's "feng shui." Your two start squabbling, Gibson signifies the divorce, and Elfman purports to "take you and your uptight bourgeois family for all you have.Inch (In the event you recall, the conflict between Dharma's hippy character and Greg's uptight family provided the setting for your show.) So can be Dharma and Greg round the outs? "They really seem to become benefiting from issues," Gibson states. "Allow me to think the situation is still OK together, even though they might have been every single others' throats there." Gibson states the scene needed approximately one hour to shoot, which he'd an chance to get together with Elfman. "I never seen her shortly,Inch according to him. Many of the two and a half Males crew once done Dharma & Greg, which created for another type of homecoming, he adds. "To obtain the chance to get together again, just for an hour or so approximately roughly, was awesome. It absolutely was a family group reunion together with an excellent experience for people. In . It's been an excellent week for Gibson. Besides turning up inside the top-rated two and a half Males episode, Criminal Minds returned due to its seventh season getting a roar. The show averaged a effective 14.millions of audiences together with a 4.1 rating inside the grownups 18-49 demographic - a wonderful accomplishment for just about any show so late within the run. "Never underestimate the American public's taste for gore and mayhem and serial killings," quips Gibson. Nevertheless the star also credited the return of stars Paget Brewster together with a.T. Prepare together with a "new infusion of one'sInch around the program. "It feels as if what we should did up to now this season is the greatest stuff we've done," according to him. Clearly, following his two and a half Males gig, Gibson confesses he may have been bitten again with the comedy bug. "You can't substitute the act of making people laugh," according to him. "It's certainly a thing that stars enjoy.Inch Subscribe to TV Guide Magazine now!

The Actor-kaira Pitt Looks Perfect In 'Dark Shadows' Official Photo

by John Mitchell Perhaps you have been so relieved it doesn't matter what else has been carried out within your existence, no matter how hectic every day, you stop and breathe and situations are perfect? That's generate an earnings feel at this time around. Earlier today, Entertainment Weekly revealed the state consider first the entire cast of Tim Burton's hotly anticipated silver screen undertake the classic Medieval cleaning cleaning soap opera "Dark Shadows," and coming just days after paparazzi shots of star The Actor-kaira Pitt searching ghastly and strange in heavy white-colored makeup leaked on the web and sparked a massive (in most cases negative) fan response, the appearance can be a sight for sore eyes. I had been elevated watching reruns in the late-60s melodrama and possess been searching toward this film since i have have first heard it absolutely was being made. The dark aesthetic that made lots of Burton's best films pop made him appear as being a good fit to direct for "Shadows," as well as the cast, from Depp as vampire Barnabas Collins to Michelle Pfeiffer as family matriarch Elizabeth Collins Stoddard and Jackie Earle Haley as groundskeeper Willie Loomis, was perfection. Then that first photo of Depp leaked and our hopes were dashed. Depp's heavy makeup handled to obtain look like Burton's "Shadows" may have more that's much like his strongly colorful assumes "Charlie as well as the Chocolate Factory" and "Alice's adventures in wonderland" than his wonderfully dark "Batman" films and "Sleepy Hollow." Which only decided to be wrong. Since it calculates, I used to be the one which was wrong. I put my disappointment into words, shooting off a missive admonishing Burton for your direction I believed he was taking. Now, as this image discloses, Depp's look for the film is virtually right in line with Jonathan Frid's styling within the original series. The makeup appears to own been overdone to counter the macabre filters Burton is shooting with and everything looks perfect. Then when I believe that perfect, I'm speaking about this. Burton even needed brunette bombshell Avoi Eco-friendly blonde to see Angelique Bouchard, the witch who switched Barnabas in to a vamp. As you will find Pfeiffer's Elizabeth, who I worried, getting seen Depp's styling inside the paparazzi photos, Burton would reinvent as some eccentric borderline crone. He didn't, and Pfeiffer looks troubled-but-regal as Elizabeth. Lest you think we are neglecting orange-haired Helena Bonham Carter inside our praise of Burton's restraint, don't worry because, she's the one which ought to be slightly round the bizarre side. The level of smoothness is, ultimately, a sometimes-out-there mental health expert who inside the series tries to cure Barnabas of his vampirism (and everybody knows that's one disease basically a stake using the heart cure). The inside of Collinwood Mansion looks right. It's as imposing, dark and medieval after i remember it sitting on the series. I am now, once again, so excited for "Dark Shadows" I am in a position to barely purchased it. Since I'm safe that Burton is moving the very best direction, while using right style as well as the right stars, I can go back to counting the occasions until May 11, 2012. You will discover 232, incidentally. "Dark Shadows" fans, are you currently presently relieved with this particular first official think about the movie? Appear off inside the comments section and also on Twitter!

5 Things to Expect from Ringer Besides Sarah Michelle Gellar

Sarah Michelle Gellar Who hasn't missed Sarah Michelle Gellar vanquishing all manner of Hellmouth demon in Buffy the Vampire Slayer? Is there someone who didn't love her turn as sexed up manipulator Kathryn Merteuil in Cruel Intentions? Point is we've had the premiere of Ringer, aka the return of SMG to weekly TV, marked on our calendars since it got the green light back in May. But there are other reasons outside of Gellar to check out her new soapy thriller, too, starting with the premise: She plays estranged twins! Bridget is a recovering addict on the run from some unsavory types, and when super-rich sis Siobhan goes missing, she takes on the presumed-dead's identity as a last resort. Of course, we also just said she's playing twins... Hooked yet? Fall Preview: Get scoop on your favorite returning shows Here are five other reasons you could give Ringer a shot -- besides Her Sarah Michelleness - with a little input from the cast: 1. The show's writers are obsessed with Breaking Bad. They like good things! And according to Ioan Gruffudd, who plays Siobhan's distant husband Andrew, they're aiming for the same level or surprise and intensity on Ringer... only without the cursing and throat-slitting drug lords. "One of my favorite shows is Breaking Bad. The writers are obsessed with it. Every Sunday night you get that watercooler moment we'll all talk about on Monday," Gruffudd says. "'Oh my God, did you see the show last night? I can't believe that happened!' So, I'm hoping that our show will have that same kind of cliff-hanger week in and week out." 2. It's raining men! And they all want Sarah. This isn't so much about Gellar as it is the parade of good-looking guys -- including Gruffudd, Lost's lusciously lashed Nestor Carbonell and Life Unexpected's Kristoffer Polaha -- around her. Just ask them! "Think about all the hot guys -- there's not enough Sarah Michelle to go around, so how in the world are you possibly going to keep all these men at bay?" says The Good Wife's Mike Colter, who plays Bridget's Narcotics Anonymous sponsor with whom she shares something more. The answer? They won't be kept at bay. "There's a lot of sexual tension. At some point, it's going to explode," he says. Did he just tease a group number? Buffy the Vampire Slayer: Then and Now 3. For those still ticked off at Lost, Ringer promises answers. Let's not go nuts needing answers: Ringer is a mystery as much as it is a starring vehicle for Gellar, so expect to be alternately teased and shocked and... yes, kept in the dark for periods of time. However, in this post-Lost era, the cast and crew swear up and down that resolutions and revelations have been plotted and will arrive in due time. Carbonell, who plays an FBI agent trailing Bridget, puts it this way: "The pilot lays out a lot of information and the writers have done a wonderful job of slowing everything down [after that] and really focusing on particular areas...and revealing things in a really great way. Things get paid off while they're raising other mysteries." 4. Mystery? Yes! Self-serious? No! This isn't Heroes. Or The Event. Or FlashForward. Ringer knows its place, and much like Buffy -- we can't help bring up the comparison - the show's tone walks that same line between melodrama and real emotional moments, between kicka-- action and a little cheese. Dress it up in neo-noir trappings, and hot dog, you've got a serial thriller that's pretty unique among prime time's uber-intense cops and criminals and forensics experts and medical examiners... Ringer's Sarah Michelle Gellar: I'm not trying to re-create or top Buffy 5. It's not for teens. In fact, it's a tad out of place on The CW, whose big stars are 150-year-old vampires in brooding teen bodies and affluent just-out-of-high schoolers leading extraordinarily escapist fantasies. Bridget's a former drug addict and stripper who happens to be on the run because she's witnessed a crime. Siobhan, meanwhile, is leading a double life all her own between her husband, guy on the side and, oh, some other guys with a bounty on her head. Don't be fooled by what you've heard about ABC Family's The Lying Game either - they both revolve around rich girl-poor girl twins, one of whom has deep dark secrets, but the similarities end there. Ringer premieres Tuesday, Sept. 13 at 9/8c on The CW. Are you interested? Why or why not? Tell us in the comments below.

The Lamp

A Trost Moving Pictures production and presentation in association with Narrative Television Network and Destiny Image Films. Produced by Jason Stafford. Executive producers, Jim Stovall, Tracy J. Trost. Directed, written by Tracy J. Trost, based on the novel by Jim Stovall. With: Jason London, Meredith Salenger, L. Scott Caldwell, Sarah Brown, Cameron Ten Napel, Muse Watson, Louis Gossett Jr., Steve Forbes. There's a heaping helping of inspirational uplift for family auds to sample in "The Lamp," an innocuous feel-good indie about a deeply depressed man saved by a mystical spirit. Theatrical prospects are dim, even for a limited regional release -- pic is available via VOD -- though there's always the chance that an unabashedly wholesome trifle such as this could strike a responsive chord with those who feel too rarely served by mainstream Hollywood fare. Homevid and niche-cable prospects are appreciably brighter, provided that the producers can successfully direct their marketing toward the same viewers drawn to faith-based fare. That same target aud responded well to "The Ultimate Gift," a 2007 release that, like "The Lamp," was adapted from a popular novel by Jim Stovall. To be sure, the earlier pic soft-pedaled its religious elements -- discussions of faith and God were fleeting, almost subliminal -- and "Lamp" comes off as even more secular. But writer-director Tracy J. Trost aims for pretty much the same type of heart-tugging sentimentality common to dramas in which characters have their prayers answered and hearts lifted. Early scenes depict author Stanley Walters (Jason London) as a man in dire need of a shot at redemption. Two years after helplessly witnessing the accidental death of his young son, he remains so consumed by guilt and grief that he barely can communicate with his wife, Lisa (Meredith Salenger), much less complete a book for which he's been paid a considerable advance. Stanley doesn't begin to emerge from his funk until Lisa fortuitously comes into possession of an ancient oil lamp. By rubbing it, she magically summons Charles Montgomery III (Louis Gossett Jr.), a courtly, spiffily dressed stranger who insists he is "a messenger," not a genie - -- but nevertheless offers to fulfill three wishes for the anxious Lisa and skeptical Stanley. (It should be noted that Charles conspicuously refrains from revealing -- and Stanley and Lisa inexplicably fail to ask -- just whose "messenger" he is.) As it turns out, there's very little magic involved in the resolution of a plot that also involves a beneficent next-door neighbor (L. Scott Caldwell) who cares for foster children and a feisty orphan girl (Cameron Ten Napel) who needs loving parents and a savvy baseball coach. Indeed, the literal-minded dialogue and primary-colored performances throughout "The Lamp" suggest all parties involved were determined to keep things as simple and comprehensible as possible. Thoroughly predictable yet undemandingly pleasant, the pic, handsomely lensed on Oklahoma locations, may benefit from supportive word of mouth and grassroots promotion. Steve Forbes has a silent cameo as Stanley interviews celebs for his book.Camera (color), Randy Stuehm; editor, Stuehm; music, Jason Moore; production designer/art director, Chris Rose; set decorator, Kara Paslay; sound, Kabe Cornell; supervising sound editor, Mark Keefer; assistant director, Jason Stafford; casting, Amber Horn, Danielle Aufiero. Stephen Lovekin/Getty Images Following the vampire king of Mississippi, Russell Edgington, transformed the road of vampire-human relations last season on True Bloodstream having a public display of bloodstream thirst, the character's return might be probably the most anticipated from the series. I am still drawn to that and i believe he must fulfill anything the truth is he's striving for and venture out inside a blaze of glory in anything he must do. He's not only a passive character.
